For a hot air balloon outing near Ubud, Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana—formerly The Chedi Club—is the featured location in this guide. The resort describes its experience as Bali’s first and only licensed hot air balloon adventure; treat that as the operator’s claim rather than proof that every other promotion is illegitimate.
The balloon rises above the resort’s rice-field setting around Tengkulak Kaja. It is a short, tethered experience: the balloon remains secured and moves vertically, rather than travelling freely across Bali.

The original guide described a balloon approximately 23 metres tall, rice-field scenery, tropical greenery and possible views towards Mount Agung. Visibility depends on conditions, so mist, clear mountains and a colourful sky are not guaranteed.
According to the official Tanah Gajah experience page, the ride rises up to 50 metres and lasts around 7–10 minutes. It is designed for a maximum of two adults with a combined weight limit of 150 kg. The published participation age range is 3–70, with insurance restricted to that range. Confirm how these requirements apply to your party before paying; do not rely on the original article’s broader 150–230 kg or “two adults plus two children” estimates.
Allow more time for arrival, briefing and waiting than the flight duration itself. The original guide suggested one to two hours for the overall experience, depending on the package and queue.
The resort currently lists sunrise flights from 6:30 a.m. and sunset flights from 5:30 p.m. Advance booking is required, with ride order handled first come, first served. Flights may be cancelled at short notice if wind or weather is unsuitable.
The original article also mentioned a moonrise/dinner session and example waiting cutoffs of 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Do not assume those remain available or form today’s check-in policy. Ask the resort for your actual session, arrival deadline, meal timing and cancellation terms.
Jalan Goa Gajah, Tengkulak Kaja, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali. The resort lies in the wider Goa Gajah/Kemenuh area.
The original guide suggested a short 5–10-minute drive from central Ubud or Monkey Forest. Traffic and the exact starting point can make the journey longer, so use a current route estimate and the resort’s check-in instructions. Allow the requested preparation time, commonly an additional 10–30 minutes in the original guide.
Some resellers may include transfers from selected southern resort areas and charge extra for more distant pickups. Such transfers are package-specific, not automatically free from Seminyak, Kuta, Legian, Nusa Dua or Jimbaran. Confirm Canggu, Tanah Lot and Uluwatu arrangements separately.
The resort’s published starting price is IDR 2,200,000++ per ride. Ask what “++” adds and what is included in your exact booking. This replaces the original guide’s loosely converted USD 150–200 and IDR 1.7–3 million estimates; currency conversions should not be treated as a fixed quotation.
Breakfast, afternoon tea or dinner may be available in particular packages. Ask whether the total includes food for two, transfers, insurance, photographs or any certificate. The original article’s references to a free digital photo, flight certificate and souvenirs—such as a woven bag, batik cloth or elephant toy—are not promises for every booking.
Waiting in the resort’s landscaped grounds can be part of the experience, but a balloon booking does not automatically grant access to all hotel facilities.

Goa Gajah: The archaeological site offers a rock-cut cave, sculptures and bathing pools. It is a separate visit with its own hours and admission.
Ubud Monkey Forest: A shaded forest setting known for long-tailed macaques. Follow its rules around belongings and wildlife.
Art and collections: Museum Rudana, ARMA, Blanco Renaissance Museum and Setia Darma House of Mask and Puppets offer different collections around greater Ubud. They are not all adjacent; choose a realistic combination.
Other ideas: Tegenungan Waterfall and Kemenuh Butterfly Park can be considered if current opening arrangements and your route allow. Allow time for transfers rather than adding every attraction after a short flight.
Book early for a popular session and prepare an alternative plan in case weather prevents flying. Ask about any minimum operating numbers; the original guide’s “two reservations” rule should not be assumed without confirmation.
Your flight is a short part of the day. Reliable arrival timing, realistic sightseeing plans and clear package terms help make the overall outing smoother.
